David Thong's Blog

nottigal says:

It was around 3 am in the morning. I was sleeping on the floor in my parent’s room. Suddenly, i heard my mom weeping. With much effort, i crawled to my mom side to comfort her. I knew her heart was in real pain and sorrow. My heart was in great pain too. I couldn’t accept the fact that my bro has already gone.

David Thong passed away on the 11th October 2005 due to liver cancer. His blog, with entries dating back to January 2004, is now turned into a memorial site with regular updates from friends and families.

David’s final entry was on 18 September, and featured a photo of him giving a thumbs up to the camera, with plasters taped over his stomach.

Of Girls and Make-Up

Devilwitattitude questions the need for girls to 'camouflage' themselves with make-up:

I remember having a chat wif a fren..Was talking about life, relationships and stuffs..She was more of a practical person, thus she condemned me for being an idealist…That was the first time some one ever called me idealist…Of course initially i brushed off the thought of it.

Later on I began to ponder again…

Devil had echoed the mind of yours truly. Does a woman REALLY need make-up? Anyway, real-life examples are included in this article. Good read, but of course, this issue as arisen before and is definately not a closed case. Otherwise, what are men gonna ogle at in ‘those’ mags?

How to Tell If Your Girlfriend is Watching Too Many Hong Kong Serials

simon talks says:

My wife watches it. Your girlfriend watches it. Your colleagues gossip about it at lunch hour. Even your kid sister fights the remote with you to watch it. Its that scourge of local/cable TV known as Hong Kong TV serials.

A day would not be complete without reading one of Simon’s Lists :)

The KLCC Nyonya Woman

Darryl Lin says:

Though the dishes in the menu are a little bit overpriced, but one could not argue the quality and taste of the food served in Madam Kwan. I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed her Nasi Lemak very much. It may be some time before I next visit Madam Kwan again, but I will definitely not miss her out in my next trip back to Kuala Lumpur.

This is an introduction to good food in KL, where food is believed to be overly commercialised, thus sacrificing the fine important flavors that distinguish the many coffee shops that serve the same main dishes.

Hope you enjoy reading this review of one of the most excellent Nyonya-style restaurants in the heart of KL city.

Wayang kulit - Warisan Nusa Bangsa

Faqir says:

Lambung angin dan cara mengambil nafas sedikit berbeza. Kadang-kadang bila aku malas hendak tiup serunai, aku hanya menonton sahaja. Ketika itu, aku merasakan macam aku berada dalam dunia wayang itu sendiri. Seolah-olah aku merasakan patung-patung itu hidup dan memang ‘real’. Watak-watak yang dilayangkan macam benar-benar berkata-kata. Kalau bergaduh, macam bergaduh betul. Emm, susah hendak cerita.

Great pictures and an expository spill-out of one man’s love for the wayang kulit.

When disaster bites you in the butt

kelisa in the drain

Kar Yeong says:

This is what happened when you park your car without pulling the hand brake, and especially if your car is parked near a slope that is next to a huge monsoon drain..

In a blame everyone but yourself society, if another one of this happens we might see politicians (maybe BN-Jerai?) asking JPJ to have a test for parking on a slope.

(Malaysians already have a test for driving up a steep slope.)

Don't leave me alone with your toys

Lola says:

So on Saturday, I accidentally deleted everything off someone’s iPod. There were just about, oh, 3000 songs on it.

The modern social faux pas, murdering a friend’s MP3 collection.

Mental Toys: TMY vs DAP

Superratty says:

my objective was to create a certain awareness that in seemingly harmless things such as the opinion poll, unnecessary perceptions can be formed, and i am merely stating my viewpoints to let you guys know that not everything on this blog is genuinely a malaysian voice.

TMY criticises politician Lim Kit Siang’s decision to post a poll on his blog.

Autumn pictures from Korea

Vincent says:

Went to Jirisan (지리산) National park on Sunday with people from work. It also happens to be the first ever designated Korean national park in 1967. This national park is home to the tallest peak in the South Korean peninsula ~ Cheonwangbong (천왕봉) Peak, which is 1,915 meters above sea level. For approximately two weeks in the year, the mountain ranges play host to some of the most spectacular autumn colors in Korea, especially at Piagol valley (피아골).

Here are some pictures of the all Korean group I went with.

Hope it draws you to Korea next autumn…

Secret Recipe IOI Mall no go

Melvin Foong is pissed with the denial to accept his credit card from the people at Secret Recipe at IOI Mall::

The male supervisor was pretty rude when I insist that I want the card to be charged. They went back in to the kitchen and starting kicking stuffs. What do I care, it wasn’t my problem that you turned off your terminal earlier than your closing time.

People are getting rude nowadays. It is not that we do not pay, and its just the other method of payment. Blame the mentality!
