tabulas.com: TrapT - Dry Wit.
TrapT says:
But like everything else that God has given a gentle touch of beauty, silence comes with a crippling quality. Silence, like glass is fragile – easily broken and its beauty only momentarily brief. At times, it is the bitter knowledge of knowing what lies ahead once this moment of silence is broken that makes you guard it so cautiously – usually, to no avail.
Trapt tries to evoke the beauty and fragility of the nights when we lie in bed, too restless to sleep.

Road trip with three classical singing teachers
tracyewong says:
Did I mention that they are amazing kids? The choir is responsive to even small gestures of the conductor (every conductor’s dream), they absorb information quickly, correct themselves on the spot, the pianist plays by ear, one of their songs were arranged by a choir member who was self-taught. The song tells a story of Pak Kaduk, and is arranged in contemporary jazz style. You should hear it, really.
It’s a shame that she probably has a point about parents not being too keen if their kids will want to pursue a career in music. Even so, I felt a bit of hope after reading about how good the SamTet choir is.

Braving KL: Houston Skies Are Made of You
Braving KL says:
You grabbed me to sit closer to you as we braved the cool night breeze together, and laughed as I carelessly got a few drops of melting Mexican vanilla on my shirt. I wish I had told you that the ice cream was not the only thing that was melting at that moment.
A dreamy and whimsical memory of a special time gone by. It felt really quietall around me after I read this, like I could feel his Houston in the air.

I Am Bald Now
Bryan says:
.... I looked like Gollum of The Lord Of The Rings in the process. In the first round of shaving, the barber didn’t shave my head entirely clean using the electric shaver and left some hair on my head just like the picture below. !@#$%^ …
So, like that, 30 minutes, RM7 and all my hair gone ! :)

Huge eyes, perky ears, pointy head, high nose –they do have something in common! Bryan is part of the Hair for Hospice charity drive.

Batdude Begins
Batdude says:
I am not sure which is sadder. That I wanted to know the difference between “bitch-slap” and “pimp-slap” OR that I actually got results when I googled “bitch-slap vs pimp-slap”.
Lemme break it down for y’all.
Ever wondered whether that slap you just got from that hot chick you were chatting up (badly) was a bitch-slap or not?
Fret no more! Batdude teaches us how to tell the difference between being ‘bitch-slapped’ and being ‘pimp-slapped’.
Never administer the wrong kind of slaps to anyone again!

"Reasons"
Marc Jitab says:
Over recent tumultuous situations recently, I was challenged to critique the reasons people give for engaging in pre-marital sex. I was challenged because the reasons people give can be countered by applying some logical thinking to it.
Although he appears to be sometimes overtly radical with Christian fundamentalism, Marc’s posts are thought-provoking, and can get controversial enough to stimulate debate. In a post that waits to be continued, Marc begins to discuss why not sex before marriage.

By George!
Kurt says:
It’s approaching crisis levels, and our dignity as an ethnic group is at stake. I am talking about this disturbing trend of us Chinese Asians giving ourselves English names that sound like bowel movements, names like Solon So, Affrick Fung and Oxide Pang.
Kenny Sia has plugged his blog, but I didn’t satisfy my curiosity until today – and was rewarded. His take on funny “English” names is probably something we can identify with.
With a Chinese name that means “family glory”, and an English one that means “noble” or “handsome”, I tend to stay away from match-making hijinks. I don’t want to be slapped with lawsuits for false advertising or fraud. Oh boo hoo.

inkyhands.net: a malaysian online litmag

Lyzzy says:
Some friends and I created inkyhands magazine (http://www.inkyhands.net), an online Malaysian litmag which features fiction and creative non-fiction writing, and “hopes to showcase the best that Malaysian writers (of ages 14-24) has to offer.”
A youth project won’t go anywhere without the needed support. If you think you can write (or not, really, it doesn’t matter), it’s cool to send submissions.
A catch though: you have to be between the ages of 14-24.
The main site only has a splash for now, but enthusiasts might want to lend their support by submitting articles to their pilot issue (December 2005).

Bali bomb maker reported killed

BBC News says:
Malaysian bomb expert Azahari Husin, one of Asia’s most wanted men, is suspected to have been killed in Indonesia, according to media reports.
...
He and his Malaysian compatriot Noordin Mohammad Top are also thought to be key members of the militant group Jemaah Islamiah (JI).
Could be him, could be not him, as the report said that Azahari ‘was known to be a master of disguise’.
I do wonder whose victory it would be. Not directly related, but I find Dr. Farish Noor’s article on Brand Malaysia on the Bali and the Ugly Side of Tourism a massive buffet for thought.
