The top-50 blogs: Xiaxue is one

Lionel says:

The article has for her what seems to be the worst blurb in the entire list:

“Self-absorbed travails of twentysomething lovelorn Wendy Cheng. Famous in Singapore, she has also been criticized as racist and xenophobic.”

Trash her all you like, by the way; she’ll love the traffic.

A scoop on an article for the New York Metro, February 20 issue: the Top 50 Blogs.

Top Ten Discarded Valentine Day Cards

moz monster says:

Valentine’s Day is no more. Until next year, that is. We men stare endlessly at our credit card debt, scouring newspapers for part time jobs. The women, in the meantime, start going to the gym, trying to burn off those chocolate calories.

Of those thousands and millions of Valentine’s Cards sent each year, how many really end up warming someone’s heart? Here are the top stinkers, the ones that simply end up in the rubbish bin or gets sold to the old newspaper man.

Coffee

munak says:

Since i love coffee alot, todays post will be on how to make coffee using a french press or plunger. French presses are wonderful machines because you manually control the water temperature and exposure time, resulting in a rich, perfect cup of coffee.

Many other coffee makers over extract coffee, under extract coffee, or utilize water which is not at an optimal temperature. Paper filters prevent coffee’s flavorful oils from reaching your mouth and can add off-flavors from the filter itself.

Education to coffee-lovers on how to make the perfect cup with a coffee press/plunger!

Cast Away

Audra Sazreena says:

What makes of you eventually? Remember the movie Cast Away? Only that you’re without all the modern stuff – not even Wilson, the ball. Just you and the nature. Can you imagine yourself actually doing this? You tell me.

I reckon I don’t even want to TRY living the way it’s described in this blog.

See Something, Say Something.

simply ROBIN says:

Since the Train station bombing incident that killed many happened not too long ago in London, being super kiasi (fear of death) new signs have been placed all over the Perth Central Train Station. Some I find rather interesting.

When you see something, say something. I saw many things today, and certainly, I said many things.

Who would have thought that Sarawak Tribune could be banned over such small matter..

Azures and the bus

Al At says:

The calm manner in which Rara broke the news to me was typical of how bad news is relayed in the family. Abah, my dad, is the coolest of them all. Maybe as head and protector of the family, he feels dutybound to cushion any bad news that comes our way.

In this cute blog about his family, Al shares how bad news is usually relayed among his family members

Culture: Happy Valentine's Day from Korea

Vincent says:

In Korea, the year’s calendar has been infested with so much commercialization that it’s not even funny. A special day is created oh-so-often, concurrently with clever marketing plans to take over the world. Playing on the theme of Valentine’s, a ‘special day’ (Ehem!) has been created for the 14th day of each month, each to it’s own bullshit story. Note that even the Koreans I know dismiss most of these days without even a whim.

This is a very informative piece on how Koreans treat the 14th day of each month… I think it’s the same in Japan.

A Bottle Of My Bestest Friends In The Whole Wide World!

Jolene says:

Hence, this calls for mass production of farewell gifts. Out comes the Dahlings In A Bottle idea. The idea was from my idea which was the successful Message In A Bottle Valentine’s Day Project of the Interact Club in my school in year 2001 and 2003. (And I strongly suspect that one of the communities in Taylor’s Business School adopted the idea for their own Valentine’s Day project this year. I choose to feel flattered, even if I’m just perasan-ing. But how coincidental can it be when the coloured water is in the exact same dark blue shade?)

This is such a cool idea… and an excellent way of celebrating Valentine’s Day. Jolene dedicates a post to her best friends, and makes pretty friendship bottles for all of them.

Koh Pha Ngan 22nd December 2005 Part 1

fazlitaufek says:

I’ve got Koh Pha Ngan (KPN) Syndrome. It is called a KPN syndrome because I cannot leave the island especially Hadrin unless I’ve ran out of money to stay there. I will spend every last cents on the island before it’s time to leave.

Some offbeat places, this reminds me of the classic Alex Garland’s The Beach, gives backpackers a utopian feeling and many now are searching for that utopian place, thanks to the Di Caprio’s movie.
